A vibrant social hub designed around connection, culture and team experience

Project Overview

Concept delivered Reliable Plumbing’s new workplace at 1/39–42 Duerdin Street as a social hub for the team. Designed less as a desk-based office and more as a shared gathering place, the space supports connection and downtime between jobs while still providing functional areas for meetings and coordination.

The project followed a workplace strategy journey to ensure the final environment genuinely reflected how the team works and interacts day to day.

Design Vision

Reliable Plumbing wanted a workplace that reflected their personality. The direction embraced bold, playful design decisions rather than traditional corporate finishes, creating a space that feels welcoming, energetic and authentic to the business.

Planning & Workplace Experience

The layout is intentionally unconventional. The kitchen and breakout area form the arrival experience, reinforcing the social nature of the workplace. Flexible zones support both casual conversations and small team meetings, allowing the space to adapt throughout the day.

Community was central to the planning, ensuring staff want to spend time in the office, not just pass through it.

Design Highlights

The project is defined by playful material selections and strong visual identity, including:

• Checkered floor tiles and bold laminates
• Warm, layered lighting
• Custom joinery detailing
• Acoustic treatments integrated into walls, ceilings and lighting features
• Textured and colourful finishes throughout

Every element contributes to a workplace that feels unique and memorable.

Delivery Challenges

The project was delivered within tight programme constraints and material lead-time pressures. Close collaboration between Concept and Reliable Plumbing allowed design intent to be maintained while coordinating client-delivered trade works on site.

Outcome

The completed workplace is a fun, welcoming and practical hub that strengthens team connection while showcasing how trade-based businesses can create modern, brand-driven environments without losing operational practicality.
