Designing a Harmonious Workspace for Concord
Concord Music Publishing, a global music leader, had been based in their Fitzroy office for 13 years. With a growing team, it was time for a larger and more inspiring workspace.
They sought to create a new workspace that not only accommodated their growth but also reflected their unique brand and fostered a creative and collaborative environment.
Concept partnered with Concord to transform their vision into reality, designing and building a new office in a repurposed warehouse that departed from traditional corporate aesthetics. The design emphasised a mid-century modern aesthetic, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere where employees could feel relaxed and inspired.
Key elements include:
- Customised furniture and vintage pieces: Carefully curated furniture, including bespoke upholstery and vintage finds repurposed from the previous office, add character and personality to the space. Some of our favourites are the mid-century Danish credenzas brought over from Concord, and Jean-Michel Basquiat’s City Of Angels printed on a rug in the lounge area.
- Spaces for connection: The central lounge area, with its comfortable seating and curated vintage décor, serves as a hub for social interaction and informal collaboration. The upper-level balcony and bar area facilitate social interaction and informal gatherings. It can be used for a variety of events, from team meetings and writing camps to social events and interviews.
- A blend of workspaces: The office incorporates a dynamic mix of spaces, from quiet focus areas to collaborative work zones, catering to the diverse needs of Concord’s creative teams.
- Integrated technology: Seamlessly integrated technology, including high-speed Wi-Fi and state-of-the-art audio-visual equipment, supports efficient workflow and enhances the creative process.
- A focus on natural light and ventilation: Abundant natural light floods the workspace, creating a bright and airy atmosphere that promotes well-being and creativity.
Working closely with Concord, the design process prioritised their vision and a strong sense of community.
The final workspace is both functional and inspiring, supporting Concord’s growth while embodying their brand and encouraging creativity and collaboration.
