4200 m²Concept was engaged to deliver a 4,500m² fitout across two levels within an existing base build in Melbourne’s CBD, creating a workplace that could accommodate a large team without compromising on flow, style, or functionality. The brief was to tailor the space to meet increased workstation requirements, while still providing a mix of formal, collaborative, and breakout zones across both levels.
The design took cues from the 655 Collins St’s industrial character, with polished concrete flooring and black accent furniture setting a contemporary tone. Warm timber finishes were introduced throughout to soften the aesthetic and bring balance to the space. With minimal structural changes, the existing layout was reworked to support the client’s updated spatial needs and team dynamics.
Level 4 was designed as a hub for collaboration and social connection, featuring a distinctive feature carpet in the collab zone, a kitchen and breakout space that opens onto a balcony, a new executive office, and existing 18P and 8P meeting rooms. A hot desk area and lockers round out the floor, offering flexibility and ease of use for a hybrid workforce.
Level 5 focused on arrival and day-to-day work, with a welcoming reception area, formal meeting rooms, a central kitchen, and a well-organised open workstation layout. The result is a refined, functional environment that maximises existing infrastructure while supporting a productive and connected workplace culture.
